Tommi & Sunny in NYC and News on Raquel vs Bettie

Hi folks,

News on the potential Raquel vs Bettie match up. Although both ladies are game for the fight, we have just learned that their travel dates will not line up for this month. While Bettie will be in NYC at the end of January, Raquel will not be here until the end of February.

So, unfortunately, this potentially epic battle in the Big Apple will not take place this time around. But we're still eager to set it up for the future. In the meanwhile...

As VeVe mentioned, two skilled wrestling ladies named Tommi and Sunny are here in NYC right now. While I personally don't know much about them, their profiles certainly look good, presenting them as experienced and competitive.

We're curious to shoot with them, but we don't quite know what specifics to go for... mixed competitive? Female competitive? Tommi vs Sunny? Or Tommi or Sunny vs VeVe? .... or both in a 2-on-1 vs VeVe?? (VeVe may not be too keen on that last idea, but who said she has to like it!)

Toss us some suggestions, and we'll set up with the ladies while they're here.

VeVe + Pantyhose = Homage Montage

While filming a special request custom video on Friday with VeVe and Thrash, I was struck by an idea.

I had recently stumbled across LMFAO's music video of "I'm Sexy and I Know It," all after listening to it over and over and over on the radio at work (you know how mainstream stations just repeat the same 4 songs all day long). In Monday's film, VeVe played a vain spy-assassin who was turned on by wearing skin tight outfits and who enjoyed looking at herself in the mirror. So, since we've been doing some fun pantyhose, leotards, and tights wrestling lately, I sat down last night and came up with this...

VeVe and more 2-on-1 fighting

And speaking of double teams and 2-on-1s, tomorrow we will be filming yet another 2-on-1 mixed wrestling challenge (among other things).

VeVe will this time take on Ben and Twiggy simultaneously. A slightly different combo from the Ben & Diablo team that VeVe faced last. This time, VeVe will have a closer match in terms of opponents' weights.

As for the Female 2-on-1 match, we are going to be pitting VeVe against Athena and Indra. Not tomorrow, though, since we couldn't quite get everyone's schedules to line up there.

Mixed Wrestling, Judo Throws, Pantyhose, and Clips4Sale in October

Wow, October has been really kicking my but. So, let me begin this post with an obligatory apology for not posting enough lately. But there sure has been a lot going on in the realm of wrestling media production.

Firstly, we opened up our own clips4sale store. Yes, I know, we are a bit behind the 8-ball on this, but we're open and live! We opened up at the end of September, actually.

The clips store is nice, since it is a good place for shorter little tid bits in the 10-minute range and also for "edgier" material, such as bondage wrestling and the ever-popular pantyhose domination wrestling.

It's also a great place for darker physical domination videos, such

as Interrogation Torture and Domestic Discord. Meanwhile, our regular doommaidens.com website can focus on female and mixed wrestling matches.

And speaking of mixed wrestling matches, let me just throw a nod out there to little VeVe for her latest competitive mixed wrestling undertaking. I wish I had more time to write about this, but I have about 30 minutes before a shoot, and I've already got a million things to do beforehand.

Anyway, about a week ago, VeVe was challenged to take on both me (Diablo) and Ben in a competitive mixed match for both pins and submissions. Ben's a former school wrestler, and I have a few years of grappling experience under my belt, so, needless to say, it was a very hard fight for VeVe. But she wasn't shut out, surprisingly. It wasn't me! Poor Ben sticks his neck out too much!

But anyway, it was a ton of fun. Ben and I executed some very coordinated attacks, which I was really able to appreciate when watching the playback of the match. We did a great job there, and VeVe got a run for her money!

But she is quite the trooper, I must say.

All right, now I am terribly, horribly short on time.

I've also been filming some judo throwing videos with VeVe. Recently, she filmed judo throwing with Indra and also with Mark. Both had a "judo throws in pantyhose" theme. Mark got pretty rough-handled yet again in this second judo-throw-in-pantyhose video he's done with VeVe.

More throwing and now with some foot-to-face punishment as well. Plus, red stockings with a garter belt! VeVe looks like a superhero!

By the way, did I also mention Indra's Nylon Domination with Thrash? Yes, we grabbed that one quickly as well. It is in our clips store. It was a quick pantyhose + scissors + feet + knockout scene that Indra was kind enough to enact for us on poor Thrash.

Tons of filming, Indra's Back, Kicks, and Lift and Carry

Ok, folks, I do mean to get a blog up as soon as I can! I know it's already September, but it has been a crazy busy September!

Why, just last week we filmed

a custom bondage video with VeVe and Annie,

a bondage wrestling double team with Indra,

a custom match with Annie and Kali,

a competitive match with VeVe and Hanz,

a strip match (domination) of me vs VeVe,

and a hard belly-kicking video with VeVe and Indra

All in one week! I'm pleased to say I also finished post production on all but one of those videos (the strip one)!

And now, even as I'm trying to blog and get out of here, VeVe is IMing with me about ideas for a Lift & Carry video series.

By the way, I also filmed a Lift & Carry with VeVe and Indra!

A little Summer Recap: Kicks and Bondage

I don't know about you, but August always seems like the end of summertime to me. Yes, I know that September has a little summer aspect to it and that fall doesn't "officially" begin until Sept 23 this year, but I do always think of Labor Day as being summer's end.

With that said, we're coming into late August now here in NYC.

And times have been busy. Travel has been eating up a lot of my time - and not to mention vacation travel as well! But I'm going to get a blog out this weekend while most of the wrestling ladies are away - also on vacation!

So, what have been some recent summertime happenings in my world of wrestling media production? I've mentioned a few in previous entries, but here are some other goings-on.

Karate Nylons with Orlandoe and Athena

Thanks to a special request and sponsorship, I had the opportunity to film two "karate kick" type videos with the ladies in July. With VeVe acting as script interpreter and director, we filmed the first video with Orlandoe and Thrash. A week later, we filmed the second with Athena and Jason.

The script was basically the same for both shoots, with slight alterations for the second version. Both followed the premise of a series of "karate men" who have escaped from prison, only to be tracked down and defeated, one by one, by a karate kicking femme fatale in black nylons and leotard. In each version, the various "karate men" were always played by the same male performer.

As a videographer, it was very interesting for me to observe the different ways the two sets of performers handled the material. While our patron had given a very specific script and directions, Orlandoe & Thrash interpreted the characters and script slightly differently than Athena & Jason. They also interpreted the "speed of action" differently, as well as how much contact their strikes would make and how their characters would speak the set dialogue.

Both sets of performers put out some great work in a relatively short amount of time. We had a few takes on certain scenes, but they did a fine job learning their lines and choreography on the spot. Kind of made me think of soap opera production. Just a tad, a tad.

Also, I would like to point out that Orlandoe comes from a background in the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira, and Athena comes from a background in Afro-Brazilian dance. Coincidence? Yes, it is, actually!

VeVe's Competitive Bondage Wrestling with Thrash

Thrash did such a great job in various videos lately, including the above-mentioned Karate Nylons, that VeVe invited him to give bondage wrestling a try.

Of course, Thrash has never tried bondage wrestling before. First time. And VeVe is not above hazing hapless first-timers.

We had been getting requests that the male be as fully bound as possible if he were to lose at a bondage wrestling match. And VeVe took that note to heart. Thrash lived up to his namesake as he tried to evade VeVe's binds and throw some knots on her himself, but his efforts were rather in vain.

He ended up in a rather TIGHT spot, actually. Twice, I would point out. And VeVe managed the ties in record time. Once of which was a pretty abusive-looking hog tie. Kind of made me think of a bow & arrow. Here's a little picture of that one:

The moral of that story: if you've never tried bondage wrestling before and you go up against VeVe, you are going to be humbled real fast. Then she'll probably laugh at you a little bit or drag you around, or some such! Those little fingers are rather nimble when it comes to rope work... and it helps that her wrestle holds will keep you in place long enough for the ropes to get into the action.

Needless to say, I was impressed.

Shortly after this shoot, we filmed another bondage-themed video with VeVe and Thrash. Only this time, there was tickle torture involved. In that video, which was a special commission, once Thrash was bound, VeVe tickled the soles of his feet mercilessly. A slight variation on the theme, but real great if you're into mixed tickle torture on the footsies. More about that one will come in time.

Now moving slowly into autumn. VeVe's got a tournament to fight in Montreal, and I know she's visiting Robin in CA in September. Hopefully we can get some more catfights on the table, since I hear there are some new ladies in town who are raw talents and potentially interested in scrappin.' More to come, as always. Orlandoe vs Ginger Martin? Make this Match?

Some of you know Ginger (aka "Hot Muscle Mom") already.

Some of you may remember her from her match against VeVe Lane in June 2010.

Now Ginger is coming back to NYC at the end of July, and we've been pondering setting her up with a match against Orlandoe.

Orlandoe has challenged VeVe on several occasions during in-house competition, including both a wrestling bout and a hardcore catfight. And let's not forget to mention Orlandoe's "dive bomb" attack on VeVe during VeVe's bondage wrestling victory pose over Athena.

And Orlandoe was crowded Champion at the Showcase Tournament this past June, defeating Lily and Indra to rise to the top in our local competition.

An Orlandoe vs Ginger match-up looks like it could have some great competitive energy, considering the potential combattants.

Filming Physical Domination of a Sadistic Sort

Whew, onward to blogging. Finally!

We're here into July now in NYC, and we're approaching mid-July at that! Time flew between my last blog entry and now. No more blog slacking; it's time to get cracking.

June was a busy month for us here at the "ranch." On a non-wrestling note, I had to have some follow-up surgery at the start of June, so that knocked me out of commission for "on-screen" time. Fortunately, I got in on a great bondage wrestling video with Indra and the pro-style video in tights with VeVe, not to mention also the sweet little interrogation scenario.

So, I'm back behind the camera again. It's other people's times to shine!

We recently filmed a special request video take-off on Interrogation Torture. The same dastardly minds that brought to life that dark, creepy mixed wrestling beatdown scenario next dreamed up a new scenario which we filmed in the last week of June...

And it was even darker and creepier!

This one was dubbed "Domestic Discord," and it featured VeVe in her femme fatale role and attire. She's been doing a lot of wrestling and physical domination in her black tights and leotard lately, I must say! Anyway, speaking of physical domination, yes, that is certainly the genre of "Domestic Discord."

I loved the story line - VeVe's character is a spy-assassin who has been deep undercover, married to a government official (played by Thrash) for years. He hasn't the foggiest idea of her true purpose and nature; their marriage has been nothing but peaceful and happy since the start. And she's gotten to know him very well.

When the day comes that she receives orders to kill him, she arranges a special evening surprise for him when he arrives home from work. The scene unfolds from there.

VeVe's character is totally a black widow in this one, absolutely. I mean, aside from the fact that she's dressed in skin tight all-black, of course! She sets up for a nice romantic evening at home, offers her husband wine, coos sweet nothings in his ear... but once his back is turned, she drugs the wine, strips into her sleek, dark "taking-care-of-business" attire, and proceeds to pleasure herself by making her poor victim suffer... and erotically.

See, during her years of spying, government intelligence was not the only vital information she gathered; she had also studied her husband's favorite fetishistic indulgences. And she uses each of his fetishes to bring about his end.

... again, much to her great delight, which she expresses so well for the camera.

Dark and creepy, yes. And very well done by VeVe and Thrash!

Also in that week, we filmed a small series of karate themed kicking videos with Orlandoe and Thrash, and then with Athena and Jason (the green wrestler from Lucha Spandex Smackdown). Both Orlandoe and Athena have some great leg flexibility, what with Orlandoe being practiced in capoeira (brazilian martial art) and Athena in afro-brazilian dance. Thrash and Jason threw great kicks in return, each of the gentlemen looking very sporty in their white karate uniforms.

I'm finally caught up with work, so, whew, a chance to write a bit. But just a bit.

I've got a folder full of photos open and waiting for my attention today. Hopefully I will be able to bang them out and get a new photo gallery up for VeVe. These are photos from a shoot she did in May with photographer Gary Dates in New Jersey. Some very artful shots which really show off VeVe's body quite well. I will be posting certain selections from that shoot. Plus, on that same shoot, she also dressed up as a "feral girl" and did some sweet action posing in the wilderness at night. Those coming soon as well.

Holy Moly! I am due for an update, and badly!

The biggest problem with being busy and blogging is that when you're busy, it's awful hard to get to blogging. There has been SO much going on lately, so many great matches and shoots, and I keep thinking "I need to blog about this," but it all piles up so high that I then end up thinking:

"Whoa, this would take such a huge blog entry, that it is just too immense to think of how I would organize it!"

In early May, there was the travel to Chicago to film VeVe's match with Gia Primo in a very interesting battle ground - a rather narrow wrestling room with walls on 3 sides and a small stair case on the 4th side (which they fortunately only fell off of once).

Natural lighting made for a cool moodiness to the look of the match.

In later May, there were the swell bondage matches with Indra, which I have already blogged about.

Toward the very end of May, VeVe and I visited Michelle Falsetta's Mixed Wrestling Event in Brooklyn, where VeVe fought many mixed matches on the main mat, including a bondage wrestling match. I got to kick back that evening on one of the sofas.

While we were there, we had a chance to meet Roxy Fox from Amsterdam. One thing led to another, and we set up a match between Roxy and VeVe for the very next day. We had to move quickly, since Roxy only had a few days left in NYC before she headed back to Europe.

So, that next evening indeed, we filmed a competitive match between VeVe and Roxy Fox. Two really tough ladies, great competitors, both a real pleasure to work with. Roxy was charming, professional, and had a lot of heart. A great shoot!

Sorry, I'm moving quickly here. Just summarizing mostly.

I also had some time in the spotlight. Literally.

On June 2, I co-starred in two matches with VeVe. Of course, I was the unfortunate victim! In the first, called Interrogation Torture, I played a prisoner who was to be interrogated by a sultry and wicked inquisitor played by VeVe. I got pushed around *a lot* and foot choked more than I'd ever like (I never like to be foot choked, actually). As a matter of fact, I was put in more choke holds than one could shake a stick at. I had a pretty sore neck the following day.

We had some awesome lighting for that shoot, which really added to the interrogation atmosphere. Great downlight from overhead cliplights in the studio, with the tiniest bit of natural light coming in from an obstructed window. You can see that in the background of the picture I have at the right. There were also some sweet echoes in the room, what with it being so large. Really nice, creepy effect!

We also shot a "pro style" match between me and VeVe. We were both in tights and wrestling boots. Hooray! She was technically wearing a body stocking. It was a really neat match, and I really loved the tights and boots combo. Especially since the white stood out so well!

Pro-style is so fun and whacky. We both gave and received various punishing holds. Here's a picture of me dishing it out with a Boston Crab!

We also replayed and re-filmed that match two days later at the June 4 NYC Wrestling Showcase. We needed a slight wardrobe correction for VeVe, and I also wanted the camera operator to shoot a wider angle. The June 2 version is shot with a lot of close-ups and moodiness, which is pretty neat. But I also wanted a version that showed the full bodies in the frame, and that's what we got with the June 4 version. The June 4 one was also filmed before a live audience and had more mutual flipping.

Yeah, Pro-style is fun. And it helps that I went to school for theatre and trained in stage combat. And, again, I was really digging my white wrestling boots. They just felt so comfortable.

And there you have it, my friends. I'll leave you at that! I'll write about the June 4 NYC Wrestling Showcase soon as well. It was VeVe's first invitational FVF tournament, and it went very well! The ladies fighting included Indra (London), Orlandoe (NYC), LotusLily (Toronto), and Athena (originally London, now NYC). It was a 4-way single elimination tournament with a consolation match. Ok, more to come. There's that for now!

Meeting Indra and More Wrestling with Ropes

Well, I know my last post was on our expanding genre of bondage wrestling, and, as fate would have it, last week brought me into contact with even MORE bondage wrestling.

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Indra, a wrestler from the London Wrestling Studio. Indra is visiting New York City for a short stay, and she expressed that she had experience in bondage and rope work, having apprenticed to a domme at one point. Well, great! I asked her if she'd like to try some bondage wrestling, and she was totally up for it. And super excited to give it a try!

Indra's first bondage match was with me, the infamous nemesis Diablo. I hadn't been a rope-tie mixed wrestling victim since my match with VeVe last November, so this was my grand return to the video arena. And it was my first time tangling with Indra... and her nasty trash talking!

She sure is a trash talker! And a meanie on the mats, to be sure, particularly when it comes to wrestling domination. Ouch!

It was my job to try and wrestle her without getting tied, but that job was rather impossible; both of my wrists and ankles were pre-set with leather cuffs with D-rings, and my one wrist had a rope pre-attached. As usual, we had the various other ropes strewn about the mats for Indra to grab and put to use.

Between her wrestling, the ropes, the cuffs, and her jumping on me while I was flattened, I didn't have much other option than to just try to hold out, hip out, and give her a general hard time. But, of course, that could only last as long as it took her to loop the ropes through all of the my cuffs' D-rings...

VeVe manned the camera on this one, and she did a very nice job. Round of applause there.

Not only did I get bound up in that match, but I was also dragged, spun in a circle, and stretched backward. Hey, innovative! Kudos to you, Indra!

But we didn't just stop with the mixed match....

Following my match with Indra, VeVe stepped out from behind the camera to take on Indra in a competitive F v F bondage match. I actually just finished work on that one a few hours ago, and it is all set to go.

The ladies nixed the ankle cuffs and instead only kept one wrist cuff a-piece. Of course, each had the requisite pre-attached rope, with the other ropes out on the mat. Our current, developing standardized style.

They went hard at each other from the top of the match, with Indra being fired up from just finishing her mixed domination match. VeVe played a smart game, working toward binding her opponent's legs together. Bound legs - a real disadvantage in wrestling. Indra managed to bind VeVe to HER in a few instances, which made for some interesting movement and exchanges.

I won't say too much about the final outcome, but I will say that there was actually a submission due to rope-bite. Even better: it was a nice, clear verbal submission. Basically, the lady to submit had been bound in such a tight way that she needed to plead for her opponent to release her. Now that's a great outcome for a competitive bondage match!

We were also able to shoot a pair of custom costumed matches with Indra, both involving stockings, and one involving both ladies in corsets!

All in all, Indra was great to work with! Very personable, charming, intelligent, and game for challenges. She's feisty and can indeed be mean when it comes to domme-ish style. She and VeVe has a grand time talking about and examining costumes and costume ideas.

Indra heads back to the UK in June, but we'll be seeing her again tonight at the Brooklyn Mixed Wrestling Event. She was a pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend her as a personable and professionally mannered performer.

Thoughts on Bondage Wrestling

Many thanks to a certain mixed wrestling fan who long ago introduced VeVe Lane to the art of bondage wrestling. And many thanks to VeVe who picked up the art and skill of tie-up wrestling and shared it with other mixed wrestling fans. And then, again thanks go out to VeVe for getting up in front of the camera and a lot more people just what she means when she talks about "bondage wrestling."

At this point, I have filmed 3 bondage wrestling video matches with VeVe. In the first of those 3, I was the opponent. The second and third matches were F v F matches. These 3 different matches had slightly different objectives, and therefore different flavors. And we learned a bit from each one.

In my bondage match with VeVe, the idea was for her to attempt to tie me, and for me to attempt to avoid the ties. However, there was an unspoken understanding, as part of the conditions of the match, that I was not allowed to directly remove the ties. I also had to wrestle her and attempt to control her, which, of course

, brought me into close contact with her, wherein she was able to loop her rope skills into action on my limbs.

Speaking from first hand experience, those thin ropes she uses do bite a good deal! A lot of the control VeVe gained in that bondage wrestling bout was due to the rope loops hurting my wrists and ankles and forcing me to move in a way to relieve the pressure.

VeVe's second bondage wrestling video match was with Keri of FemFightClub and Spectrum Fighting. This was a competitive bout wherein these two skilled female grapplers were mutually attempting to tie each other and secure each others' limbs. The difficulty here came from each lady actively workin

g to remove a tie or loop once it had been established on her body.

Like my match, the match with VeVe and Keri involved 4 pre-set, pre-looped ropes being set out at the corners of the mat. VeVe had the edge over Keri in the loop placement and rope skill, but Keri was clever and watchful. Even when VeVe was nearing a secure tie, Keri would be able to figure out the pattern of the tie and begin to wriggle to freedom. And, like me, Keri also remarked on how those rope bites do rather hurt.

Overall, the ladies reported that the match was exhausting, mentally stimulating, and quite challenging. However, I was not quite satisfied at leaving it at just that, since no full immobilization was achieved.

Thanks to a suggestion from a bondage & wrestling fan, following the Keri vs VeVe match, we headed to the Leather shop and got a new set of items to add to the mix: leather wrist cuffs with D-rings. New rule: each wrestler would wear a cuff, and a "permanent" rope would be attached to the D-ring of the cuff. That cuff rope could never be removed during the course of the fight.

VeVe and I agreed that this cuff-rope would open greater possibilities for control and completed ties during the course of a tie-up match.

So we gave it a shot.

This time, only a few months ago, we put VeVe up against then-newcomer Athena for a bondage match. The ladies locked on the wrist cuffs, looped on the cuff ropes, and went at it. And, as expected, the cuff rope led to greater rope security and a great complete tie-up.

Of course, that match later involved a little surprise dive-bomb visitation by Orlandoe. And so we got to see how double-team bondage wrestling worked out. And it sure can lead to a quick tie job!

So, what's next on the bondage wrestling front?

The wrist cuff method seems like a nice addition. We've also considered pitting VeVe, a wrestler who can tie while fighting, against an experienced bondage tie artist who also wrestles. Who would have the upper hand there?

What about a match in a pre-set rope body harness? That would surely make a good opportunity to get grips and secure ties.

VeVe has been working to develop bondage wrestling techniques of her own. Maybe she should look into hojojitsu for inspiration, which is a Japanese art of rope tying a struggling opponent. But I think those toes are supposed to focus on looping the neck... And we want to avoid that.

Female Tickle Wrestling!

I'd been curious to see what competitive tickle wrestling would be like. So, we gathered together two local ticklish female wrestlers and set them head-to-head. The result?

That little trailer just gives a glimpse of the madness that ensued.

Of course, gotta love it, the "m" in the final aspect of the ".com" of the web address attached to the video had to fall onto the lower line. Well, you know, since that was such a crazy video, there needed to be a little additional craziness in there.

I've filmed some tickle wrestling before, in a mixed match video involving Veronica Vicious. The was more of a one-sided match, where Veronica was the one doing the tickling, and her opponent could do nothing more but survive the tickle torture. That was maybe a year or more ago. Whatmore, on the same evening of the tickle match between VeVe and Annie there, I also filmed a tickle torture match between VeVe and infamous wrestle-victim ShortFuse Mark. Like Veronica's mixed tickle video, this one was also one-sided, with only VeVe allowed to tickle.

But this match between VeVe and Annie was a mutual tickler vs tickler type of match. And it was hysterical. I'll tell you , when you watch people tickle each other or attempt to tickle each other - you know, the way that ticklers make the tickletickle verbalizations - well, when you watch that going on, it's just hard not to laugh yourself.

So, I realized I had a smile glued to my face as I was editing the match. And every time I watch the match or the trailer. Your mileage may vary, but that's my experience-take on the matter!

I know a lot of people have been asking for bondage wrestling combined with tickle wrestling. That item is also on the to-do for us. The thing to do there, though, is to consider suitable opponents. But that is speculation for another day!

VeVe, Jasmine, Boots, and Upcoming Tickling

Ok! Closing out March 2011 with a bang.

We released 4 new videos this month, handled a bunch of intriguing commissions, and enjoyed time at a very successful wrestling party in Philadelphia. All in all, not a bad month, despite the lingering cold weather!

In addition to the VeVe vs Raquel match and the mad-cap Lucha Spandex Smackdown, we also had VeVe vs Jasmine Flower - at long last! - and VeVe's Leather Boot Beatdown with good ol' ShortFuse Mark.

I enjoyed shooting the VeVe vs Jasmine match because it took place before a live audience at an

underground wrestling party which had some really swell lighting in effect for the filming. I'll include some photos so you can see what I mean:

That sure as heck beats fluorescents (the bane of my existence). I was able to rig up the lighting so it was mostly downlight directly over the mats, leaving the audience area in relative shadow. Theatre in the round style. I also had a touch of red sidelight from a mini spotlight and some red downlight far in the background. It looked great, especially considering the shoestring lighting budget.

Of course, filming at a live event is always a challenge as well, what with the trying to avoid catching the audience on camera. I have to say that I'm pretty good at that. Live audiences push you, as a camera operator, to find new angles that highlight the wrestling action while keeping the spectator faces out of the frame and at the same time keeping out of the spectators' viewing path. You need a good awareness sense to go at that task. I must say, the challenge does add to the fun of it, if you're a multi-tasking fan.

VeVe pulled out a red lace bra & panties set for her match with Jasmine. I think this was a new outfit reveal. Not as mind-blowing as a Lady GaGa outfit reveal, but still very nice. And surprisingly sturdy for wrestling! Now, to get her to do a catfight in that combo... I'm sure she'd be totally game for it.

The party, by the way, went excellently. Great guests, great mood, music, ambiance, and generally lots of wrestling, as always! Good space down in Philly.

To close out March, I also put together the short domination wrestling novelty match of VeVe twisting up Mark. As mentioned above, VeVe wore leather boots for this: tight-high, spiked heel, black leather boots. Typically these are a huge no-no for the mats, but VeVe pulled it off without a hitch.

I have to say, regarding the spiked heels and the mats, I wasn't concerned at all and had total confidence in VeVe's ground movement skills. She locked up Mark for the first takedown, and then stayed with ground holds for most of the time. Most! She managed to sit and kneel herself up on poor Mark several times. Hey, when you're avoiding the mat, why not make the victim your new floor? Sorry pain fans, but she didn't step on him with the heels. However, she did scissor him into near-oblivion, get leather-clad feet and legs on his throat, and give him a good dose of pretzel-twist humiliation.

Now with April looming on the horizon, we are gearing up to shoot some tickle wrestling matches. Aiming for a mixed match with VeVe and Mark, as well as a F V F match, with may include Amazon Annie, Athena, and/or VeVe. We've been getting some requests to couple tickling and bondage, and that is certainly something the ladies are up for.

Where February saw a lot of bondage wrestling, perhaps April will have a tickling theme... onward and upward!

Raquel, Wrestling, New Blood, and New Assignments!

What's the word today?

Why, "wrestling" is the word, of course.

And since actions speak louder than words, what's the action, then? Well, the action is in the wrestling videography.

There's been a lot of filming lately, and there's more to come before this week is over. We're barely into March 2011, and I've already released a number of matches, shelved processed data, and am clearing up my hard drive for more to come. Let's have a look at what's been go

ing on and what's yet to come this week.

After a lot of pantyhose, bondage, and mixed wrestling, we're swinging back into the regular female vs female competitive realm. At the tail end of February, I filmed a much-anticipated match up between VeVe and Raquel. Now, granted, I never knew much about Raquel beforehand, but all of my wrestling friends and colleagues had been anxious to see here in F v F competitive action. I had heard that she has been in the industry for a long time, that she has a great deal of freestyle-esque wrestling experience, and that she is a fantastic athlete.

Great!

To top that all off, as I found out when I met her, she is also quite a sweetheart and a pleasure to work with. Everything I like from my filming talent: prompt, cordial, professional, self-contained, great physical control, and able to stop and start on a dime.

Because Raquel expressed a curiosity about wrestling for pins and/o

r submissions, I proposed the match be for pins and submissions, similar to the match that VeVe had against Wrecks in the singlets. Raquel was all for it, and VeVe agreed.

That match provided a huge challenge for VeVe, especially when it came to dealing with the threat of pins while at the same time defending against choke attacks. Think about it: turn on your back, you can get pinned, but turn to all-fours, and you can get choked. Raquel was very strong on the takedowns & takedown defense, and that gave her a tremendous edge for getting on top first. I was very impressed with her standing game and ability to win control on the way to the ground.

If Raquel swings back to NYC again, I'd definitely love to have her for a second match up with VeVe.

In the meanwhile, we continue to develop our local talent here. And speaking of local talent: just moments before we started filming the VeVe vs Raquel match, I just wrapped up filming a new bondage wrestling match with VeVe, Orlandoe, and newcomer from London, Athena.

Thanks to some feedback from customers of our previous bondage wrestling matches - with me (Diablo) & VeVe and with Keri & VeVe - we had decided to enlist Athena for a new bondage wrestling idea.

I don't want to get too into talking about this match, since I'm running out of space here. But I will say that the idea involved using a leather cuff with D-rings on the wrist of each wrestler, through which one rope was permanently afixed. There were other ropes scattered about the mat for the wrestlers to use as they saw fit.

VeVe came in as a very experienced bondage wrestler. Athena, on the other hand, has never done this sort of thing before. Needless to say, VeVe made good use of that permanent rope on the wrist cuff - and the other ropes around the mat! I asked VeVe to strike some victory poses over her defeated foe.... and then, secretly, I had Orlandoe rush in from behind and surprise attack VeVe while she was posing! One thing led to another, Athena wriggled herself free (with the help of her teeth on the ropes!), and both Athena and Orlandoe double teamed VeVe. Now, that's not a nice thing when we're talking about bondage wrestling!

There's another female competitive match I'll be filming of VeVe vs Jasmine Flower. This will take place before a live audience at the Philadelphia Wrestling Party. All are welcome to attend. Than on Saturday, I'm filming with VeVe and Jennie Vaughn. They will be having a competitive match, as well as some other smaller matches, some of which will involve beating up "ShortFuse" Mark (who recently co-starred in Judo Throws and Pantyhose).

Lucha Spandex Smackdown Shoot last night

It's been a wild time in wrestling media production world. But isn't it always a wild time?

Last night we just wrapped filming of what I have dubbed "Lucha Spandex Smackdown." It was a complex shoot involving 4 people (2 girls and 2 boys), leotards, tights, luchador masks, bondage, tag teams, and five different 10-minute matches.

Thanks to the energy and cunning talents of VeVe, Orlandoe, Hanz, and Jason, we were able to make this shoot happen with flare, style, and pizazz. And thanks to our patron, we were able to get all these wrestle-kids kitted out in spandex and nylon goodness.

I had no idea what to expect from this shoot, but I knew I was working with good people. I must say that the experience took me back to my theatre days, and I certainly felt like I was filming an interesting theatre exercise on this one:

Unidentified male and female figures. In combat. Wrestling. Tying each other up, tying each other together. Full body coverage. Skin tight. Basic colors.

Anyway, I was very pleased! I am excited to work on this even into the post-production phase. It was some great wrestling, great bondage wrestling, great mixed wrestling.... and all in these lucha masks and tights.

I wish I could talk more about it, but the DVD master just popped out of the burner, and I need to run off to the gym now!

Tonight I'm filming with VeVe, Athena, and Orlandoe again. We're having a go at some F v F bondage wrestling double-teaming. Then I'm filming VeVe vs Raquel. Ok, now, really got to run!

Judo Throws, Pantyhose, Singlets, and Wrestling!

Oh, I've been a bit behind in posting lately. This tends to happen to me. There's been a ton going on outside of blogger-world, so I take this as a good thing.

I'm back on my feet, and I have personally been shooting a lot of matches lately. It's good to get back behind the camera instead of just doing the post-production work.

So, I just recently wrote about the Judo Throws & Pantyhose custom that I shot with VeVe and Mark. That was a great video, by the way, since VeVe got to throw Mark many, many, many times throughout the course of the 10 minute "throws" portion. It was fairly brutal on poor Mark, and he left with purple bulges under his eyes.

VeVe is looking into getting herself a short gi jacket so that she can wear it along with her dance tights for more throwing-type videos. Right now, all of the judo gi jackets she has are fairly long in the skirting part.

A week prior to the Throws video with Mark, we also shot a singlet match with Blazin' Ben. That was a 10 minute match, and I am still deciding what to do with it, since it's a shorty.

This match was supposed to have been in "pin style," but there were no specific rules in place regarding how long it would take to pin. 3 seconds was assumed. From this match, though, we learned that VeVe looked best with her singlet flipped to the blue side (it's reversible).

And most recently was a shoot with VeVe and Twiggy, with both competitors in pantyhose. This was a two-match set, where VeVe and Twiggy would switch color/style of pantyhose with each other for each segment. Match 1 was in "domination" style, while Match 2 was in pure competitive style.

Pantyhose do make for slippery wrestling! I observed this as I watched them struggle to clutch at each other with their legs. Furthermore, there is very little traction for the feet when you're foot-clad in the hose.

Twiggy was a great opponent for VeVe. It was great to work with him again, after not seeing him for so long. He's been busy lately, so we were pleased to get a hold of him for this bout.

I'm still making preparations for the June 4, 2011 NYC Wrestling Showcase. We have a nice card lining up, including Jasmine Flower and Onyx, as well as visiting wrestlers from Wisconsin (JuMi) and Toronto (Lotus Lily) and local NYC talent: VeVe, Orlandoe, and Wrecks.

VeVe looked great in her pantyhose + leotard combo. Some nice, lean, dancer-like muscle. And hooray for Mark for surviving ALL those throws! VeVe really made him catch some air tonight.

Matches on the Horizon for Jan 2011

Though I am still doing my surgery recovery thing, I have been setting up a number of match possibilities for early 2011.

The bondage wrestling match I had with VeVe in early November is doing very well and has become quite popular. Our fans and customers are intrigued by both the general style of the match and VeVe's dexterous rope work skills. The fact that she can handle the rope AND wrestle at the same time is really turning some heads.

As I may have mentioned, we are now aiming to shoot a F v F bondage wrestling match, and we've been tracking down Wrecks to tie-up with VeVe on this one. Wrecks is our number one pick on this because she has yet to face VeVe on the mats at all. A likely second is Orlandoe, though she and VeVe had a video match together earlier in 2010. And Clobberetta is a possible contender, since she is also skilled and experienced with bondage wrestling. However, VeVe and Clobberetta just had a fantastic video catfight match at the end of October, so I would prefer more time before they faced off again.

There has also been some discussion from the drawing board about VeVe offering a bondage match to Keri of FemFightClub.

We are also still considering a wrestling match-up of Wrecks vs Orlandoe.

Other F v F combinations that were thrown into the mix include Orlandoe vs Clobberetta (bondage wrestling), VeVe vs Wrecks (wrestling), as well as matches between VeVe and Jasmine Flower and/or Raquel.

For mixed matches, we have a mini series coming up between VeVe and Blazin' Ben. As soon as Ben's new singlet arrives, we'll be setting up to shoot a "pro-style" singlet match between VeVe and Ben. Following that, these two will shoot a competitive wrestling match wherein BOTH are wearing dance tights. It's a theme of "guy and girl wear matched fight attire."

And speak of the devil, Ben's singlet just now arrived via FedEx.

So, it looks like VeVe's matches against Ben are the next in the queue...

Great Feedback for Bondage Wrestling but Still Laid Up

Though I am unfortunately still laid up from my surgery, and I will not be wrestling for at least 2 more months, I am pleased to read the great incoming feedback for the matches I shot with VeVe.

Our Bondage Wrestling video from late October was a big hit. It was a great idea of VeVe's to capture this sort of match on film. And again, thanks to Clobberetta for handling the camera while I fought against VeVe's rope work attacks.

Also, in the match I viewed and on her website, VeVe said something about other types of bondage matches, like "Escape," and whatnot. Of course, I'm interested in paying for those, too. You guys are providing something I have yet to find anywhere else (the only things that have come close are significantly more sexual). I'd just as soon give you some incentive to keep it up.

Coming up for January, we are planning to shoot a competitive female vs female bondage wrestling video with VeVe and Wrecks. I'm looking forward to that one. We're also planning to get Clobberetta in for a bondage match or two, looking for an F v F and/or a mixed match. Opponents for her are under consideration.

Here's hoping I have a speedy recovery so I can get back out there as well. In any case, I should be ready to handle the camera soon. But, for now and as always, I'm still driving the post-production task force.

Finally! VeVe's match with Dia Zerva.

This match was a challenge to get, what with Dia's head injury causing us to postpone the first shoot attempt. And then with me being laid up so I couldn't shoot the rescheduled match. Then our backup cameraman couldn't make it. Then, just Sunday, Clobberetta told us that she had a conflict and couldn't film it either.

That put is in a bit of a hard spot. We had the wrestlers ready to go, but no camera operator. But luckily, one of my wrestling party buddies stepped up and answered our last minute call for help. And he did a great job with the filming!

I just put the finishing touches on the match video and have uploaded it to our server. Screen stills have been extracted for the video product page and for the ladies' to hold onto. I'm about to open PhotoShop to get to work on selecting the best stills - always a hard task to narrow those down - and to get the match "cover photo" - an even harder task!

And I already pulled out a little Match Highlight clip that I thought looked really neat. It is a clip of VeVe pumping a jumping reverse triangle on Dia. Totally out of the blue and a real interesting transition. Here is the highlight:

VeVe vs Dia Zerva on Monday

We've finally got VeVe Lane's video match against Dia Zerva rescheduled for this coming Monday. Their original plans for their match were cancelled when Dia reported a head injury last month. But now, it looks like this bout is going to happen at last.

Unfortunately, I won't be manning the camera for this one. I just had some surgery, so my mobility is a tad limited. In my stead, Clobberetta will be capturing the action. She did a nice job with our last two videos that featured me and VeVe together, and she is learning my fast-action-capture videography style well, so I feel confident about her shooting the Dia Zerva match.

I'll be handling the editing on the match, so I'll give it a nice, fast turn around time.

I was a Spandex Wrestling Video Victim

Since I'm lean and mean lately, VeVe called me back to co-star in another wrestling video with her. The theme of this work: Spandex Wrestling Domination.

VeVe had been wanting to do a new spandex wrestling domination video for some time. Her first in this style was a match against the fully spandex-clad Silver Ghost. Since quite a few video fans seemed interested in and intrigued by the mixed wrestling spandex match, we reloaded and set up to shoot this new one, taking place over a year or two later.

VeVe and I both wore very shiny, slick spandex for this video. Essentially, our attire consisted of dancewear. VeVe had a white spandex half-body suit over which she wore a teal-ish blue leotard. Her laying of garments created an interesting effect with all of the white and blue straps crossing over her back and shoulders. Both of these spandex pieces had smooth and slippery textures.

I also wore a half-body suit, but it black. Since the upper part of the body suit wasn't quite working for us, I instead rolled it down and essentially turned it into a pair of leggings. I was pleased and surprised at how well the body suit stayed in place as leggings and didn't unroll during the course of the struggle.

So, on to the meat of the matter.

This was indeed a domination style video, and the focus of it was to get my head crushed by spandex-clad legs as much as possible. For 20 minutes of filming. I can out of there with a bloody nose, a slightly irritated larynx, and a light headed feeling.

Then, of course, there was also the spandex legged body scissoring - some sore ribs for the next morning - and a good deal of School Girl Pinning and rough facesitting, which I believe was the cause of the nose bleed.

Normally I can fight through a nose bleed, and I have been able to get them to stop during matches before, often with no one really realizing it had happened. However, when white leggings are crushing my face, blood will show up real fast and will cause a lot of staining. So, after I noticed that I couldn't easily stop the blood with VeVe constantly smashing my face, I had to take a moment to directly address the matter.

I had to wonder, though, if viewers would be interested in seeing the brutality of this blood all over the light-colored spandex. Imagine my face, a tight head scissors or leg triangle wrapped on me, and blood streaming out of my nose with nothing I could do about it. But, for the sake of VeVe's brand new, shiny attire, we passed on that opportunity.

I will say that spandex is damned slippery. It's kind of like oil wrestling without the oil. Sort of. It was quite an interesting feeling to try to lock onto VeVe's spandex-clad legs with my spandex-clad legs. Total slippage. But it's a nice, smooth slipping feeling. Real minimal friction. Smooth like ice. And, as a result, it is fairly easy to slip out of attempted holds and locks. Well, except for those darned School Girl Pins. But perhaps a spandex face mask might have helped with that...

Anyway, I got a thrashing in this video. Although it was domination style in favor of VeVe, she sure didn't hold back or simply "indicate" any of the holds - and thus for my bumps and bruises. It was a little bit like being sucked up into a tornado, actually.

Clobberetta ran the camera for this one, and she did a fine job of getting in to capture all of the spandexy punishment that VeVe was dishing out, along with all of my suffering.

That match should be along soon, though screen stills, as you have seen, are up and about and should be around in VeVe's photo galleries even sooner.

And so, that's it for now. Oh boy, never a dull moment in wrestling video production.

Catfight Brutality and the Aftermath

Well, VeVe didn't get to fight Dia Zerva last night. But she did get to fight what may well have been her most vicious fight of the year. As a matter of fact, as I do my Dana White impression, I have decided to award this match our company's "Most Brutal F v F Bout of the Year" award from my stand point as a producer.

Last night, VeVe fought the powerhouse that is Clobberetta.

I knew this fight would be a good one, since I know that both of these ladies have an extremely high tolerance for pain, and I know that neither one gives up submissions easily. At all. You know, the sort where you need to actually damage their joints or knock them unconscious before they will give.

Of course, while both VeVe and Clobberetta are capable of fighting civilly, courteously, and technically - and while that is something they often do when faced with out-of-town guest wrestlers - civil fighting was NOT on the table for last night's battle. Last night was an all out catfight!

And I chose that format for those ladies because I know them well. See the above! Add that all together, and you have a recipe for an intense fight.

One thing that surprised me was the ladies' willingness to start from a standing position. I tried to discourage them from doing this, given the considerable weight difference, but they were so fired up, that they just jumped into it for the first round, going right for standing slaps and takedowns. I hoped for the best and kept the camera rolling. For the second round, same deal: they jumped up to start from the feet, and looking for sweet-spot face shots.

I'll also mention that when we started rolling for the second 10-minute round, I announced that the winner would take a victory pose over the loser. That, I think, added even more fuel to the fire. While these ladies love to fight for fighting's sake, after that announcement, they knew they

were fighting for stakes. And since both of them are rather prideful fighters, the drive for the W

climbed even higher. This was a delight to see.

I'm trying to avoid saying to much about the actual specifics of the match and the eventual outcome, but I will say that the Victory was really up for grabs here, and I could have gone to either one of these fierce competitors.

20 minutes of slapping, hair-pulling, and general crushing is pretty rough, wouldn't you say? Just sayin'.

When I was editing the video, it sure looked to me that VeVe was clutching on to Clobberetta's hair for almost the entire time. No wonder Clobberetta said that her scalp hurt when the match was over. And VeVe did not escape unscathed from the harsh hair-pulling. Oh, no. Clobberetta grabbed VeVe's hair at one point (or several) and jerked her so hard that VeVe woke up today with a sore neck. Both ladies have been twittering today about being considerably sore and bruised this morning, so... I'll leave it at

that!

Personally, I happen to love catfights. They are my preferred form of female fight video to shoot, truth be told. Getting slapped in the face really makes you see red. It pisses you off, and it makes you want to strike back with a fury. Hair-pulling is just as powerful. Yes, indeed, slaps and hair-pulls must surely have been designed to piss off the receiver! They are less damaging than punches, kicks, and Thai knees, to be sure, but they are absolutely great for heating up a fight on an emotional level. So, in my mind, slaps and hair-pulls are great!

And I loved watching the blood boil at last night's fight.

... it was boiling so much so, that the winner did more than just take a victory pose over her opponent. She channeled her fight rage, took her opponent down after time was called, and mounted her for a humiliating School Girl Pin slap down. That's right, she rained down unanswered slaps on her defeated foe. It's tough losing these sorts of matches, you know.

Lastly, before I move on, I will say a few words about the setting. Since this match was to be particularly violent and noisy, we took it to a secret and private location. No open studio here. No harsh lighting. No outside influence. We set up in a gritty stockroom warehouse space in Hell's Kitchen - a perfect setting for a catfight.

Now, if only I can get that space for more matches...

Anyway, hats off to you two, VeVe and Clobberetta. Great fight. It was very exciting to shoot and edit, and very difficult to select promotional screen captures for - there were just too many great stills to choose from. Let's keep it rollin', ladies.

This is quite amusing to see develop. Looks like I'll be filming a splendid catfight between two very physically different opponents tomorrow: VeVe Lane vs Clobberetta. I love filming catfights! Here's some of what the ladies have been saying to each other on the DM yahoogroup:

So, yesterday while training with VeVe I noticed there were an unusual amount of 'accidental' slaps and scratches. I think she's been getting a little too comfortable in the catfight/MMA setting. I'm not a catfight gal myself, but hell hath no fury like a Clobber-woman's scorn! If she likes to hit, then so be it - I can slap, too. Bring it on, little furious thing... you will be crushed!

So, tomorrow I'm going to be doing my first catfight video against VeVe Lane. As a newbie to this, I don't know what people generally wear - I'm used to singlets. Does anyone have any catfight attire suggestions?

So, VeVe answered back:

Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait just a second here!

Sure thing, Clobberetta, you want a catfight, that's just fine by me. But let's get some facts straight here first. Who was the person throwing her weight around all over the mats during our training yesterday? And by weight I don't mean good, old fair-fighting body weight, I mean those big clumsy elbows of yours.

I guess a few warning slaps weren't enough to teach you to watch yourself, look out for your opponent, and keep a nice, friendly grappling match friendly. No problem, you're a newbie yet. We can switch over to catfighting and make the lessons a lot harder and faster.

Get the popcorn out, folks. This is going to be a great fight. These two both have a high pain tolerance, so, at least from my point of view, it will be quite a sight to see just how much slapping goes on here! Also, does such a size difference make a difference in a catfight style bout? Time will tell!

Some Tie-Up Wrestling Action and Dia Zerva coming to Town

First thing's first: I finished up a trailer for the Tie-Up wrestling match I had with VeVe on Oct 24 (see previous blog entry). That trailer video is embedded below. If you like to see some grappling + thrashing all rolled up into one, that trailer is for you.

Next: We have Dia Zerva coming to town, and she is lined up to have a match with VeVe. I was supposed to film the match between them this past week, but Dia's travels were delayed. Instead, we will be filming this coming Tuesday evening. We have no special conditions for that match, but I am certainly willing to listen to any that anyone might toss out there...

VeVe's Bondage Wrestling Challenge

Tonight we shot VeVe's very first Bondage Wrestling match ever to be caught on video.

VeVe is fairly experienced at this art form she calls "bondage wrestling," and she has practiced it several times in the sessioning realm. And while I've heard VeVe talk about this wrestling style before, tonight was the first time I got to witness her bondage wrestling skills in action. You see, that's me right there:

Yes, dear readers, I had the pleasure of facing off against little VeVe in this challenging sort of match. Clobberetta handled the camera on this one, and she did a great job of it.

The match ran for 20 minutes total, made up of two 10-minute rounds. VeVe's objective: to tie and capture me, all while wrestling for position and control. My job: don't get tied! Now, that's easier said than done when your opponent has loops and lassos pre-set all over the mat space. If we rolled near a rope coil, you bet that thing was coming into use real quick.

VeVe is pretty smart when it comes to bondage wrestling. I have to say, she did a fine job of distracting me and using that distraction tactic to slip quick-tie coils on my wrist and ankles. The ankles ties were the absolute worst. Not only were they considerably painful (rope bites), but they were considerably immobilizing. Go ahead, you try wrestling while your feet are tied together; legs are very important in this game.

I was able to get a few sweeps in, despite my bound ankles, and I even nearly got a one-armed rear naked choke while I had both legs and one wrist tied. Not too shabby!

Despite my thrashing attempts to shake her off, VeVe kept her cool and went about her business like a pro. It's a tough fight when your opponent can get great grips and you and you can't really grab her back.

So, there's my little run down as I simultaneously work on the editing for this video, set for a release tomorrow.

What do I think of bondage wrestling with VeVe after this experience? Well, I certainly think it leads to a very frustrating situation of immobility! Her quick-tie roping neutralized my strength advantage, making the struggle a tough one for me. All in all, it was pretty damn fun!

And on that note, if you like struggle, I do indeed recommend you give this style of bondage wrestling a try!

Making match compilation DVDs

It took an unexpected phone call about a month ago to get me thinking of this. Or maybe I had thought of it before, but it took that phone call to actually get me to put this seemingly obvious idea into action: the creation of multi-match DVDs.

You may be tempted to say "Duh, Mr. D, that's just so obvious!" But allow me to explain.

When we produce a new match video, our turn-around time is very quick; the match is filmed and released usually within a day or two. While that works excellently for downloadables - people can get the download quickly, with the full excitement of the match still lingering fresh in the air - it isn't that great for DVDs.

To release a match quickly on DVD typically means the release of a single-match DVD. Unless, of course, multiple related matches are shot within the same week, such as two F v F or two mixed matches of the same style. However, since we didn't stack shoots like that in our earlieryears, that led to the production of many single match DVDs.

This is the way it went for some time.

Then one day I received a phone call from someone asking for a printed list of our DVDs. Since we had never received that sort of request before (most people use the internet listing), I thought it might be interesting to assemble a printed listing. And that is when I realized just how many single-match DVDs we had. Whoa, now that had to be tightened up.

Luckily, I had the raw files and footage for a number of the single-match DVDs, so I have been slowly assembling the related matches onto single discs. My latest compilation DVD, for example, has been all of Jay's mixed matches: Jay vs VeVe (Oct '09), Jay vs Kim (Jan '10), and Jay vs Jenny (June '10).

One thing I like about making the compilation match DVDs is that it gives me, as editor, an opportunity to see the evolution of certain wrestlers over time, in the various matches. The DVD viewers would also get to have that comparison experience.

So, in an effort to provide greater value for DVD viewers and fans, I am going to include at least two matches on each new DVD produced. And I am also working to combine as many of the pre-existing single-match DVDs as possible. Unfortunately, I do not have the raw files for a few of our older single-matchers, so they will remain as singles. Also, our 40-minute long matches will remain as singles.

One of these days we will get a 60-minute long match, but I digress...

Future releases will be speedy on the download, but will have a slight delay on the DVD, as I also assemble other footage to add to the disc.

So, there is a little bit of talk and insider info on why I do what I do and have done what I've done. More to come, as always!

We've been trying to get these two ladies to meet on the mats for some time now. And they finally did. Just this morning. For a 20 minute competitive match (two 10-minute rounds)... which was preceded by an arm wrestling bout and push up contest.

And special conditions: no straight arm bars or rear naked chokes allowed. All other submissions were legal.

The video is being processed this very moment! Coming soon! I'd write more, but I am exhausted from a loooong day and ready to hit the hay.

VeVe to London and then to fight Julie Squeeze

I just bid safe travels to VeVe, as she stepped out the door to the airport on her way to London this weekend to wrestle at Monica's. She'll be away until late Tuesday night.

And while VeVe was making her London travel preparations this week, she was also negotiating for her next match here in NYC. Upon her return next week, VeVe will be gearing up to face a travelling wrestler who's in town lately:

Julie Squeeze

All negotiations seem to be set, and we are aiming to shoot late next week. Perhaps next Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. We have a sponsor involved for this match who has also requested some special conditions for VeVe to observe: VeVe is not allowed to use straight armbars or the rear naked choke (choke from behind). This should pose an interesting challenge for the Petite Powerhouse and will force her to think fast during the fray. Julie has got the size advantage and is very athletic, so, get ready for an exciting fight.

VeVe's Dancewear Match with Ben, in the works

I'm composing this as I ride the subway home after a trip to the gym and the post office, where I dropped off some DVD shipments this evening.

Tonight, I have my work cut out for me as I assemble the materials for our upcoming latest match release: VeVe vs Blazin' Ben 2: REMATCH.

This is the match I'd been mentioning in prior entries. This was a special commission request, and VeVe's attire was to consist of tan/natural pantyhose and a black leotard. So, what we had was a rough, physical mixed match with VeVe decked out somewhat like a ballet dancer. Minus, of course, the hair bun and the ballet shoes.

This match was particularly challenging for VeVe because the commissioner had requested that she focus on gaining particular holds and takedowns; that's a tough order to fulfill in a competitive bout. The special requests were for hip throws, shoulder throws, and holds and submissions involving the legs and feet. So, VeVe had to put her thinking cap on and work for techniques other than her reliable favorites the double leg takedown and the guillotine choke.

It was a fun piece to film and nerve-wrecking as well, due to the usual roughness that Blazin' Ben brings into his bouts. No injuries, of course, thank goodness, but plenty of excitement from these two game and hardy opponents.

All righty, I'm coming up to my stop soon. Time for me to get to work.

Also, as I write this, VeVe, Clobberetta, and Amazon Annie are up in Montreal for the weekend. I'm disappointed that my schedule did not allow me to accompany them this year on this annual trip. I've asked them to take photos; I hear they'll be dressing to the 9's for a party tonight.

My goodness, I have to apologize for not blogging in a while. Between the travel and the barrage of work, I just haven't had a moment to commit some quality thoughts to e-paper.

I just noted that my last entry included the trailer for the VeVe vs Orlandoe intra-company lightweight battle. So, I wanted to take a moment to include the trailer for the intra-company heavyweight match of Amazon Annie vs Clobberetta.

Yes, it does work! Hooray!

This was a really exciting fight to film. Everyone kept asking me which of these ladies I thought would win. Going into the match, I really couldn't give a definite answer. While Annie had been training for a longer time, Clobberetta trained a whole lot in preparation for her June match with the Bulk, and she stayed on her roll from there. Clobberetta had the weight advantage, but Annie had the reach, leg crushing-power, and speed.

I was thinking that whoever got taken down fight would be the one on bottom until a submission took place. I was right to some extent, but often too, the bottom lady made great work of replacing the guard and/or escaping the mount and progressing from there. Impressive!

And very competitive. The holding of the grudge did make me smile. I like it when they fight for sakes.

Anyway, so we currently have a heavyweight and a lightweight title holder here.

More to come. I love these rivalries.

Intra-Company Rivalries!

Just a quicky for now:

Last Friday, I shot the first of two "Intra-Company Rivalry" matches. That one was the Doom Maidens lightweight division battle of VeVe vs Orlandoe. I'd like to write more about this great and dynamic match-up, but I am unfortunately very short on time right now.

I'll mention that the video started with a bit of a "glove slap" from Orlandoe to VeVe. Well, actually, it was something more like this:

Now, this ACTUAL trailer from the match sure gives a better idea of what went on that evening between these two speedy grapplers:

Tomorrow I'll be filming the heavyweight match up between Amazon Annie and Clobberetta. No upper limit in that weight division. Amazon Annie is giving up 100 lbs to Clobberetta, but Annie's got those crushing long legs and more speed.

This should prove an interesting battle.

And I expect it might be a bit different from the VeVe vs Orlandoe fight. But, you know, who knows what to expect?! Those Annie and Clobberetta have a grudge to settle, so anything's possible!

Back from vacation and back to work!

I just arrived home from 9 days out of town on a vacation trip that involved the boardwalk of south New Jersey and some medieval style armoured fighting in western PA.

And now back to the grind in the realm of underground wrestling!

And there's a lot on the horizon for the remainder of August. We've got the Grapple Den party here in NYC on this Thursday, August 19. And then there's KGB, Boston's wrestling party, on Friday, August 27. I've got a bunch of our NYC wrestlers headed out for Grapple Den, and VeVe and Clobberetta will be heading up to Boston for their second visit to the KGB party.

That's the news from the live-event front.

As for videography, we have a rematch between VeVe Lane and Blazin' Ben coming up this weekend. This rematch will feature VeVe in dance-wear: pantyhose and a leotard. The perfect attire for striking fear into the heart of her opponent.

And then, as I may have mentioned before, we have the long-awaited competitive match up between Amazon Annie and Clobberetta. That will take place next Wednesday at high noon!

Also coming up is a competitive match between VeVe and newcomer Orlandoe These new girls are always looking to take shots at the current wrestling champion, I see. Well, good for them. Shows moxie.

Boston Trip, More Fit Photos, and Upcoming

Today is Wednesday, and it's time for my first blog entry for August 2010. And there's a good bit to blog about!

First off, this past weekend I took a road trip up to Boston with VeVe and Clobberetta for a combined session tour and visit to KGB, Boston's new wrestling party. We were joined by fellow NYC wrestler Miss Juliette, who rode up with a colleague of mine and met up with us at the Friday night wrestling party.

This was KGB's second official party, so we New Yorkers came up to lend moral and physical support. We all fought a number of matches, with VeVe taking on the Boston wrestling party's top female wrestler.

As a meeting of the tribes clash, I rolled with the party's 6'4", 200 lb host, my friend JoeJitsu, for a close match that ended in a draw. And Clobberetta fought a mighty battle against a male wrestler who outweighed her (!?!).

Following the party on Friday night, which took place in the south area of Boston, we headed down to Providence to crash with the party's hosts for the evening. And than on Saturday it was back up to south Boston for sessions. As irony would have it, the hotel was only 10 minutes away from the wrestling party space.

We concluded the tour with a Sunday afternoon session at the wrestling party space. That's pretty full-circle. And then add to that the fact that we went around a particular traffic circle a million times coming and going from the space and scoping the surrounding area...

Anyway, after a busy tour, we headed back to NYC. We ran through some horrible traffic that added an hour and half to our trip. But considering it was a Sunday evening heading back into town, I wasn't too surprised.

On Monday, I got busy with one of VeVe's new photo galleries, which she has dubbed "Fitness in the Park." These photos were from a shoot she did about two weeks ago with a photographer from FitShots (www.fitshots.com).

These were shot in Central Park here in NYC. This set joins VeVe's "Posed" galleries. And now we've got the gallery up and running at VeVe's site, here: VeVe Lane Fitness in the Park

And VeVe just had a classic pin up photoshoot last night, as I hear. So that looks like more gallery-making work coming into my inbox soon.

Future projects are also in the works for the rest of this month. We are setting up a much-anticipated video match between Amazon Annie and Clobberetta. That will come up in later August. And, thanks to a special request, we are looking to set up a rematch between VeVe and Blazin' Ben, wherein VeVe is wearing dancewear: sheer hose and a black leotard. That should create some interesting imagery.

And there you have my update for this week!

Vacation is coming up for me next week.

ShortFuse Mark gets his bell rung!

This past Saturday I got to film some demolition work in action.

The structure being demolished was the small body of poor "ShortFuse" Mark. The wrecking balls were none other than VeVe Lane and Clobberetta. And as I sit here waiting for my slow-ass editing software to do what I tell it, I can blog a bit about the experience.

"ShortFuse" Mark is an opponent with whom VeVe had shot a previous video match several month ago. He is a very lightweight guy, weighing only 135 lbs, and he has fairly limited wrestling experience. In his original match with VeVe, he came in for a competitive match. She ended up beating him so badly, despite his best efforts to wrestle back, that we ended up billing that as a domination wrestling match.

Then, a little while ago, VeVe got the idea of calling Mark back for a MMA style rematch. I thought it would be a great idea and would certainly make for a great video, especially with the two of them being so close in weight.

After a few set backs in scheduling and rescheduling, we finally all got together on Saturday for the shoot. And this time, not only did VeVe bring her MMA gloves, but she also brought Clobberetta! That's right, folks, this day would surely test the endurance of our dear friend Mark; after his ground & pound match with VeVe, he was to then face Clobberetta.

This was one of our more sadistic video shoot days.

Let me just say that "ShortFuse" Mark is a great sport. Not the strongest wrestler in the world, but definitely a great sport. And with a great attitude! I mean, how many people can, in the course of 1 hour, get the snuff punched, choked, and slammed out of them and then hoisted and tossed like a rag doll... and then hobble to their feet and shake hands with their assailants afterwards? This guy can.

Oh damn, I am going to have to cut this short now. I have less than 30 minutes worth of work time left, and my program is chugging along here. Almost done with both of these videos and with pulling out the screen stills. The next challenge will be the trailers. So much good material from this shoot; picking and choosing for the trailers is of course going to be a toughy.

More about yesterday's Mud Wrestling

So, last night, after I got in from Amazon Annie's very successful mud wrestling party, I tried to write a blog entry about the event. However, I was just so tired, that I could barely manage to get anything out.

I'll give it a whirl now.

"Amazon Annie's Mud Rasslin' Hillbilly Hoe-down"

First of all, hats off to Miss Amazon Annie for coordinating such a great spectacle of an event. She had a mud pit (which she'd dug herself), a BBQ cookout, a watermelon eating contest, a band with banjo, a Dolly Parton burlesque dancer, and a very messy series of fast-paced mud wrestling matches. And all of this buried in the heart of Brooklyn on an otherwise peaceful Sunday evening.

Below is a photo of Annie and VeVe that I snapped before the guests arrived.

Once guests started trickling in, Annie called for her first order of competitive business: the watermelon eating contests. After much wrangling, she managed to collect a good group of eaters, including herself and Clobberetta, to attack the waiting watermelons. The competitors were given 2 and a half minutes to eat as much watermelon as they could, with the winner being the one to eat the most.

Unfortunately, neither Annie nor Clobberetta won the contest. Annie especially was given a disciplinary warning for spitting the watermelon out and crushing it around with her face, instead of actually eating it.

After the watermelon, the burlesque, and the band, the mud wrestling was set to begin. There were mostly female vs female matches, but we also caught two mixed matches as well. The first match of the day was in fact a mixed match between VeVe Lane and Twiggy. It was fast and furious, as we expect from these two lightweight wrestlers!

Fortunately, we got all of these mud matches on video, by the way.

Other mud matches included a mixed double-team with two ladies, and a grudge match between two friends. We also had the pleasure of seeing Amazon Annie take on Clobberetta and then later VeVe.

Annie really showed her skills as a mud wrestling queen, putting down all challengers to her Mud Champion title.

Such a mess, and exhausting to even watch!

I'm racing the clock here, but training time is coming up fast. At least I got an entry of better length up this time. I know that Clobberetta is blogging about her experience at the mud party as well, and hopefully we can get Annie to put a few words down in text for us about her mid wrestlin' savvy!

Finished the Trailer for VeVe vs Ben

Here's the trailer for that "VeVe vs Ben" video I had been working on. It's all done and up. I uploaded the trailer to Daily Motion instead of YouTube due to the thong-wearing aspect. Our mixed wrestling trailers with that sort of attire tend to get flagged and deleted when I upload them to YouTube. So, this time I decided not to bother going through that step.

I called Ben "Blazin' Ben" due to his firey attitude and movement as an opponent. He came in with a lot of intensity, even throwing a little body slam in while VeVe had him in her guard (ooof! That'll teach her to jump guard). But although he blazed in with a hard pace, his endurance started to nag him as the 15 minute match wore on. Firecracker. Blaze of glory. So, yeah, I thought "Blazin" made a great title for him.

I thank VeVe for reminding me about this match. And I am glad to have finally gotten to working on it. It's a great match to watch - very dynamic and with both players using their brains - so, of course, that means it was a great match to put together on the video reel. It was especially fun to watch Ben call on his scholastic folkstyle wrestling skills and VeVe to meet them with her submission grappling training.

Hitting the Backlog Today

Today's adventure is perhaps not as stellar as the post-apocalyptic thong photoshoot, wherein your humble narrator was kicked in the gut by a stiletto boot. However, this adventure is a necessary one, and it does indeed involve mixed wrestling. Videos. Mixed wrestling videos that have been patiently waiting in the to-do queue.

The main item, which is indeed a bit overdue, is a match from January 2010 between VeVe and a former school wrestler named Ben. This was shot on the day after the January Showcase event. It's a 15 minute match, and it somehow got away from me while I was processing the other January matches.

VeVe's bout with Ben here was a great match up in terms of size. Ben weighed in at 155 lbs at 5'6" and VeVe at 120 lbs at her 5'4". This tangle was fast and furious and definitely very, very competitive.

But heck, enough distraction with the blogging. Back to work.

Silver Bikini Photos for a Sunday

While VeVe and Clobberetta fight through New Jersey traffic on their way home from Atlanta, and while Amazon Annie settles in after her return home from tropical travels, I am here at the office selecting photos from VeVe's Silver Bikini photoshoot from last Wednesday.

The Post-Apocalyptic Thong photos have gone up onto VeVe's website already. They are here: Post Apocalyptic Thong Gallery. Those are my top 14 selects out of 100 or so. I'm sure when VeVe gets in, she will have a few words with me about that! Hopefully she will like those selections.

The next trick is this Silver Bikini set. A solo set from the same day as the thong shoot. Taken out on the pier with the setting sun.

This is the bikini that VeVe wore in her recent match with Dominique Danger at the NYC Wrestling Showcase on June 19. You will notice that the top has only one strap. That one strap is actually three individual thin straps. The result of this arrangement? The top doesn't stay in place too well for a competitive wrestling match.

The result of that? VeVe had to switch to a different top for the second round of her match against Dominique.

So, as I write this, I am also making some thumbnails of my photo selects. I have selected about 17 photos from this set of 100+. As with the other set, I am sure VeVe will have some thoughts to add regarding the selections once she gets an eye on what I've got here.

It's clear polish, as far as I can tell. But apparently it took quite a while to do and cost enough to make you want to take care of it. The mind boggles.

Photoshoot Saved with the Post-Apocalyptic Thong

Last night I wrapped a last-minute photoshoot with VeVe out on an industrial East River pier in Brooklyn. The heat was sweltering, the sun was setting, and for some reason the security patrol was not at all bothered by VeVe's post-apocalyptic thong.

VeVe was originally supposed to head up to a studio photoshoot up in the Bronx that evening, but around mid-day she was informed that the photographer had just suffered a heat stroke. So, with two shopping bags full of costumes and a fresh manicure and pedicure, VeVe expressed some distress about the loss of the shoot opportunity for the day.

That's when Clobberetta and I sprang into action to help VeVe out. We performed some gymnastics to fetch my camera, fight through subway delays, consider a shoot location, make it out to the appropriate pier, overcome dying cameras batteries, and manage a very successful shoot before we lost the sunlight.

We shot two sets of photos.

The first involved VeVe on the pier in a shiny silver bikini.

I myself wasn't a huge fan of this particular bikini, but it did have some interesting shoulder strappage. Due to a combination of lighting, background, and necessary angles, we got a lot of head shots from this one, along with some showing off of VeVe's freshly done toe and finger nails.

I should also mention that our dear model was walking around in this piece of floating rusted metal in strappy high heel shoes and that delicate-looking bikini. Rusted metal and heels? Is that classic somehow?

The second set of photos formed what I have deemed to be the "Post-Apocalyptic Thong" shoot. With Clobberetta's assistance, I was able to step out from behind the camera and get involved myself at one point. Of course, VeVe lets us all know what she thought of that idea...

I think she liked the idea.

We got a number of photos with this post-apocalyptic outfit with the punky hair & make-up. Mostly solos but also some victory poses as well, along with some variations on the foot on belly image above.

We shot about 300 photos, and we hope to scale that down to about 20 select shots. Now for the hardest part: making the final cuts in shot selection. Thankfully, I'll leave the majority of that to VeVe.

When I sit back and consider June 2010, I realize just how much wrestling video action was going on!

We did so much!

Certainly, there was the NYC Wrestling Showcase, but that was late in June - on the 19th! We also had a ton of action before and after. Check out this shoot recollection, listed by shoot date:

So that came to 16 video matches that I shot in June. Granted, I only needed to process 14 of them, since two were shot for other sites. And 2 of those 14 were for non-distribution, and 1 was a youtube freebee.

Of those remaining 11 that were intended for our video store, I got 7 released in June. Also note that we released the previosuly-shot VeVe Lane vs Jenny Sjodin REMATCH on June 10.

So, there were 8 video match releases in June 2010. And 7 of those were shot in June.

Yeah, June 2010 was definitely a busy month for wrestling videography. And I kept my sanity and still managed to have time to train pretty regularly myself. Summertime brings magic energy, I think.

July will be a travel month. The ladies have trips scheduled for Atlanta, GA; Toronto, Canada; and Boston, MA. Then in August: Wildwood, NJ; and TBA in Pennsylvania. Then to Montreal, Canada, for Labor Day weekend. All are road trips. Buckle up!

Today's wrestling media production adventure consisted of a lot of data entry into a new google documents spread sheet.

Hooray!

Perhaps that's not the most exciting adventure to report about, from most readers' points of view, but it is these sorts of matters deserve to be discussed as much as others. Perhaps? Anyway.

Yesterday saw the official release of our "Amazon Annie vs Sherry Stunns" Showcase match from June 19. I'd placed that into the store before officially announcing it as released. Same with the "VeVe Lane vs Rachel Sinclair" match from June 20, which I will be officially announcing as released within the week.

Following the massive "video shoot fest" of the Showcase weekend, I immediately sat down and banged out all of the matches, processing them as fully as I could, as quickly as I could. I worked for 2 days straight, nose to the grind, and had a tremendous work turn over as a result. While I was working, I was also releasing matches according to my tentative schedule and sending e-copies of matches to participants.

That was last week.

At the start of this week, but 2 days ago, once all the dust had cleared, I looked at what I had on hand. And I realized why I like to get a ton done in one big push - everything was clearly laid out for me upon my return to work! I thanked my last-week-self for that.

For the last Showcase in January, instead of making a big push to do everything immediately, I made a work schedule to stretch the processing out over time. Not the best idea. The further away we got from the event, the less I found I had to say about the matches; the words to describe them were not immediately on the tip of my tongue, especially as I got caught up in later shoots, travel, and other work.

Now, about 6 months after that first trial, I had learned my lesson. Armed with some large USB storage drives, I ramped up and ran headlong into the pile of camera-generated AVI files.

And now, here I am, out on the other side of the storm. Coasting a bit, since most of the work just involves gentle organizing (as opposed to heavy editorial lifting).

Cleaning the queue. More like tidying, actually.

Cracking my knuckles to dig into managing a fairly heavy travel season coming up for the wrestlers. And I'm thankful the video file pile is well under control!

Rules Variations for Video Matches

Recent e-mail discussions with a customer and then further discussions with VeVe have yielded a great point regarding "scoring" a wrestling video match:

Many viewers watching the matches think in terms of pin-to-win, especially since we are producing wrestling matches. And to many people the word "wrestling" implies that there should be some importance placed on pinning an opponent.

Now, we score our matches based on number of submissions attained. And sure, that makes perfect sense, since we are engaged in submission wrestling. However, what if we created a rules variation that allowed for scoring of dominant positions as "pins."

I am not talking about just implementing standard no-gi grappling scoring rules; such as 2 points for a dominant position, 2 points for a sweep, points for submission attempts. Of course, we are putting these no-gi scoring rules into effect when it comes to overtime, in order to prevent a tie.

But how about a match-long rule regarding "pins"?

How about a scoring rule that...

1. Gives viewers the satisfaction of seeing a successful pin rewarded

2. Prevents wrestlers from staling on the bottom

3. Pushes the pace of the fight

4. Does not straight outright penalize BJJ fighters who can score submissions from being on their backs during a match.

Here is the proposal:

Continue to score the matches based on number of submissions. However, also score the matches based on number of "pins" and stand those scores up side by side.

What is a "pin," though?

In our rules, we could say: if one wrestler keeps her opponent in a controlling position (aka "dominant position") where her back (both shoulders) is on the floor, such as side mount, mount, scarf hold, perhaps even half guard!, for 10 seconds, then the top player is awarded a "pin."

After a "pin" the match would be restarted from a neutral position (knees or standing).

Now, I don't think this rule would hurt BJJ fighters. First off, even though BJJ fighters can work from the ground or from their backs, none want to be flat on their backs when on the bottom. If the BJJ fighter cannot get at least one of her shoulders off the mat in 10 seconds, some sort of advantage should certainly go to the controlling player.

This would not apply to full guard, which, although one player is on the bottom, is a neutral position, not a "dominant position." However, if the bottom player using the guard cannot mount a successful attack, nor the top player pass the guard, within, say, 20 seconds, then the match will be restarted from a kneeling or standing position. There will be no scoring as a result of this restart.

So!

The proposal here is just this: add a score for "pins" based on a top player effectively pinning her opponent flat for 10 seconds.

BUT!

What about stalling?

What if the top player pins her opponent but does not attempt a submission? It's "safer" to pin and hold than to attempt a submission.

Here's a possible solution:

Score the pin at the 10 second mark. But do NOT stop the fight. Instead, award the pin and let the match continue.

If the top player does NOT attempt a submission or change position within 10 seconds AFTER the pin is awarded, then the top player will be warned and/or penalized for stalling.

This sort of mirrors the BJJ scoring, where a player will be warned for stalling after 20 seconds of "inactivity" while holding an opponent in a dominant position. In my proposed rules, the "stalling" player is awarded at the 10 second mark for her demonstration of control, but she will be penalized at the 20 second mark if she has not started working toward a submission.

You get the score for a "pin" and then you need to start working for a submission.

Again, this mirrors BJJ rules, which require a player control her opponent for 3 seconds in order to be awarded points for a dominant position.

I propose requiring 10 seconds. Will that be too long? Somehow, I don't believe that 3 seconds is enough time to convey the "pin"... but then again, it takes 3 seconds to gain a pin in Pro Wrestling.

So maybe 3 seconds to gain a "pin" point? The match would definitely not restart then. The point would just be awarded to the pinning player.

Actually, as I attempt to make the rules feel more satisfying to wrestling oriented people, they start to mirror BJJ rules even moreso.

Time to fish for feedback!

Report: VeVe vs Ginger (Hot Muscle Mom)

And what a GREAT and exciting match it was! Ginger Martin, the Hot Muscle Mom, is totally fit and explosive at 5'6" and 140 lbs. A totally athletic and dynamic wrestler with great muscle definition. She gave VeVe a run for her money.

They rolled for three 8-minute rounds and created such a sweaty mess on the mats that by the third round, it looked like they were oil wrestling - and at high speed! As a matter of fact, the pace of the match was outstanding from start to finish. I was amazed at the furious movement within the first few minutes of the fight, and I was impressed that they carried through and finished strong into the 24th minute.

Great fight, good submissions to be had, not a draw (no more draws allowed, anyway), tremendous energy. And we'll have the video ready very soon.

Ginger was an absolute pleasure to work with, and VeVe, as always, was on point and ready to roll.

Great job VeVe and Ginger. Tremendous work tonight, ladies. You really made me think "old school" competitive when I saw this one.

Wrestling Filming Tonight with VeVe and Hot Muscle Mom

I'm here in the lobby of our Manhattan studio space, sweating in the NYC heat wave, about to go get the mats for a competitive female match I am shooting tonight. 6:40 pm, right now, Friday.

VeVe will be wrestling for 24 minutes against a figure contest competitor / wrestler by the professional name of "Hot Muscle Mom" from Houston, TX.

Hot Muscle Mom hit a bit of traffic on her way into Manhattan from her hotel in Newark, and that is why I have time now to write this note now.

We'll be setting up a 10' x 15' mat space for this match, which is a closed shoot. VeVe just ran down to get the mats (so industrious of her). She gave me no guilt trippin' for my staying here and blogging. What a trooper!

Here's hoping that Hot Muscle Mom gets here soon. And, while I'm at it, I wonder if the studio we're in tonight will have an air conditioner... and whether or not we will use it. Nothing like letting them get sweaty real fast in a non-A/C environment; that'll lead to some real hot muscle action, to be sure!

Wrestling Blog Begins: Identity Considerations

I've decided it's high time I start blogging about my adventures as a media producer in the female and mixed wrestling realm.

As far as a start to the journaling, I haven't quite figured out how I want to present myself on the greater internet - what I would call myself, how I would depict myself in images, and so forth.

I do have some degree of concern for my personal information on the internet. I don't care about my name and image being out there for all to see, but, like most people, I am a tad concerned about identity revelation in connection with my wrestling media production work. I may get over that, since, in all likelihood, most people probably don't give a shit.

Of course, my real item of concern, above my own blogging presentation, is the personal information and identity of my wrestlers. Many people see me in person with my female wrestling friends, and certain dot-to-dots could be done to figure out just who these wrestle-ladies are in their day-to-day lives.

That's no issue for the ladies who are "out" about their wrestling careers. However, it is troublesome to the ladies who need to keep a closer watch over their namesakes and images. The real trouble, you see, is that the "out" wrestlers and the "double life" wrestlers tend to hang out together, travel together, meet people together, friend each other on facebook (or attempt to), and call each other by legal and professional names interchangeably in mixed company.

Why, at this past weekend's NYC Wrestling Showcase, we had a mix of "out" wrestlers and "double life" wrestlers. And there was a whole spectrum going on amongst them, between the polar extremes.

In any case, I won't wander too far on the discussion of wrestlers being discreet about their personal information. I will save that talk for a different post, perhaps. However, it is a topic that can be worth a lot of comment - but without really saying too much, in the long run.

What we do know is that some lady wrestlers have more flexible lifestyles than others, and, so, this influences their level of comfort with respect to plastering themselves across the internet. OR they are heavily into promoting themselves in "legit" fighting circuits and have a lot of pictures out there with their "real" names attached, thus causing them to hesitate in a big way when it comes to promotion for "underground" wrestling such as ours... even if there is nothing dirty going on about it! After all, words like "underground" and "mixed wrestling" tend to frighten a good many people, I've observed.

But considering this does little to help me decide what I will do regarding my presence and such on the web. I'm still in a stalemate here.

More consideration necessary. I suppose I could always make a pseudonym and use a vague image to represent myself. But vague images don't help readers to relate to me as a human, and pseudonyms can become confusing when dealing with people in the flesh.

Yeah, some more consideration is necessary.
