Journaling of a producer of female and mixed wrestling videos and events. Videography, match shoots, coordination, editing, imagery, training: it's an adventurous line of work!
This past Saturday was our Live Filming Event for November 2017, and I think it went very well! The ladies were all full of competitive spirit, and they gave us all some fantastic displays of rough and tumble submission wrestling!
We had our 8-wrestler competitive tournament, where competitors fought to progress through the bracket, in hopes of making it to 1st place. We also had 3 competitive heavy-weight matches, including a surprise last-minute addition.
I'm seriously pressed for time right now, but this post will include a list of matches and will show how our Tournament matches have been numbered.
Heavy-weight Stand-Alone Matches:
- Sweetie Dreams vs Kari
- Ursa vs Kari
- Sweetie Dreams vs Amazon Annie
Tournament Matches:
1. Aralia vs Lydia Vengeance
2. Lana Luxor vs Kim Chi
3. Taylor vs Ilarija
4. Lea Hart vs Rachel DD
5. Kim Chi vs Lydia Vengeance
6. Lea Hart vs Ilarija
7. Aralia vs Rachel DD (Rematch)
8. Taylor vs Lana Luxor
9. Taylor vs Rachel DD (Rematch)
10. Aralia vs Lana Luxor (Rematch)
At the very bottom of this post is the Tournament Bracket Sheet, for a visual.
All match footage has been processed, and all match videos are ready to go, both in usual 1280x720 (4 mbps) resolution and Full HD 1920x1080 resolution (6 mbps), for those who like larger files.
We are in the process of releasing matches to our store. Some have already been released as I write this (whew, what a day). If you would like to get any in advance of their release, you can reach us here to inquire: orders@doommaidens.com
There's so much going on this season, my goodness. There's also so much I want to talk about. Between all of the regular filming, and the meeting and training of new & upcoming local wrestlers, and preparations for the big November 18 live filming event, and... I'll just stop now before I run off course before I've even begun. But these things are all related to the idea of this post.
As some of you know, last year we had started doing periodic live streaming webcasts for our Doom Menagerie youtube channel (for interviews and chat, link here: Doom Menagerie youtube). The discovery of youtube's basic Live Streaming feature led us to having some live streaming talk shows, often involving guests who were either on set in person or tele-commuting in from other parts of the world.
As a result of doing that, we acquired a reasonably good quality webcam and microphone. However, over the course of the year, we never really did much with these items, aside from the simple, relatively infrequent, and often-impromptu talk shows.
Until recently.
Enter the Live Streaming Match Possibility.
A recent custom request for a live streaming competitive match brought this possibility into reality.
I'd pondered the idea of live streaming matches before, but I'd never quite had the impetus to really put serious go-power into it. We once tried a crude live stream of a match, just because. But it was ad hoc, we hadn't meant it as a serious thing, and the stream only showed a stationary behind-the-scenes view of a regular filming session (so, I, as "real" camera operator, was blocking a lot of what the webcam saw). So the concept went onto the back burner.
But an actual request for a live stream match changed things.
For this, we took care to set up the webcam at the best angle for viewing the action. We did not have a separate camera operator on the mats. Everything was set up specifically for the webcam live viewing experience. It was a live show. No stops, no need for editing or piecing together, all in the moment.
And it worked out really well!
I'd definitely love to do this again. (note, the match was also recorded for the client on a separate camera, which was also stationary and provided a similar view, though with a slightly different angle) More Live Streaming Matches?
I'd really be down for doing more live streaming matches. VeVe and Hanz are also keen on the idea as well. In fact, they were kind enough to do a vlog entry about it yesterday (linked below).
We've even been discussing live streaming possibilities for our upcoming November 18 Live Filming Event, which is full of competitive F/F matches (here "Live" means with live audience of viewers present in the studio). Of course, there are things to be considered there: 1. What does the webcam see?
We'll definitely be recording the matches with a moving, on-mat camera operator (myself), who will be running the usual video camera. Assuming the webcam remains stationary, for least disturbance, it will see the camera operator as well as the action, and webcam views of the action might possibly become obstructed at times.
Nonetheless, the webcam would be positioned for best view of the mats, but I still think stationary is the best way for that thing, for now.
2. Run webcam between cuts.
The webcam would essentially get the experience that the in-studio audience would be getting. So, when the regular recording camera cuts off as competitors are shifting around, moving from interview position to fight position, getting ready, etc, the webcam would still be running.
Hanz mentioned that he liked that behind-the-scenes aspect. The "fly on the wall" experience, as he said. But, really, it is a virtual in-studio audience experience. Except you can't see what is outside of the camera's frame, unless someone turns the thing for you.
3. Interactivity?
Wouldn't it be neat if webcam viewing audiences could interact during the course of the event? Or would it? They could comment on the action during breaks, ask questions to each other, or possibly to the webcam system operator? I'm not imagining comments during the action, really, lest something be missed. But, say, during the breaks between rounds: "Did you see that last submission? What was that move called?" "I can't believe she actually pulled that off." "Has anyone seen her do that move before? Did that come out of nowhere?"
4. Live, in real time
It's like going to a show together, even when you live somewhere far away. Is this a cool aspect? Do people like that aspect of "live" in real time? It's exciting, but can also be a little nerve-wrecking. There's no way of knowing for sure what will happen.
5. Platform?
It remains to be seen what the best platform for broadcasting this sort of endeavor may be. We also don't want to have issues with losing the stream, technical difficulties. I'm not extremely high-tech, and we are often operating over wireless networks, so it's no high-end stream production like they may do with a UFC broadcast!
Hanz seems full of thoughts and ideas of the tech end, so I am inclined to defer to him in this area.
6. And more?
What more? Does this sort of thing interest people? It is certainly easy to do on a small scale, especially for a single viewer or small web audience. It's easy to coordinate a small audience or single viewer, to make sure everyone arrives on time.
Anyway, ok, just putting this out there. Again, this would not replace the regular filming, but rather would be a potentially fun supplement. I'm curious as to whether anyone feels strongly about this or has thoughts on the matter.
As always, you can e-mail us here: orders@doommaidens.com

Wow. That's a lot of competitive wrestling going on! And all of the submission wrestling matches had Punishment Rounds for the losers.
I return to my NYC studio tomorrow, and then I can begin work on this footage. Releases will come along as quickly as I can manage. I anticipate releasing multi-match sets first, since those are fastest to assemble. The difficult part will be deciding exactly which to group together, since putting, say, all 1-on-1 bondage wrestling matches together or all submission wrestling matches together would result in files that are too large. But I'll figure it out.
I know I'll put both of Aralia's matches together. That's an easy combo to think of. The Python & Prey videos can go together, as can the Villainess Triumphs.
Also note that VeVe arm wrestled most of her guests as well. Brief little bouts, about 3 rounds each. She's looking to create a little arm wrestling compilation.
If you've been following us on Twitter (@DoomMaidens), you may have seen pictures we've been posting with our guests as we met with them for filming. Be sure to check those out too, if you didn't get to see them as they were posting up.
Anyway, that's all for now! If you have questions, feel free to e-mail me here: orders@doommaidens.com ... cheers and stay tuned... more to come!
Sunshine, Aralia, Misty, VeVe, Regan, Terra, Lea, Gia. The ladies posing just before jumping in for the 8-Way Bondage Free-for-All for FetCon 2017
So THANK YOU to everyone that has written in regarding the sponsor pool idea! We've been quiet about it for a little while as we've continued to ponder the best way to coordinate all the different suggestions, but the pool idea is still very much alive!
At first I thought I would gather up a bunch of suggestions and make a massive blog post about all of them... But now I'm thinking that pitching these ideas out one by one will be the way to make sure they get out as quickly and directly as possible.
So without further ado, here's our first, most solid and most time-bound sponsor pool opportunity.
Catfight
Sarah Brooke vs. Me (VeVe)
Sarah Brooke and I are already scheduled to shoot together at FetCon on August 9th. We've gotten a request from two different guys to do a fully competitive, hard, rough catfight. Finally!
But, understandably, the rate for real catfighting is a good deal higher than for straight wrestling or other modeling. We need to raise $1000 total, and the two original requesters have pledged $600 between them. $400 more to go.
This would be a 20-minute bikini fight (unless even more people want to contribute extra to make it longer).
If you are interested in pitching in on this effort, Email:orders@doommaidens.com
And Use the subject line: Sponsor Pool Sarah Brooke Catfight
Thanks! Hopefully, we can kick off this sponsor pool thing by making this happen!
Hey all. FetCon 2017 is coming up, and that means we'll have a chance to meet and reunited with wrestlers and models we don't often get to see during the normal course of the year.
VeVe put together this great graphic to show the ladies we have confirmed shoots with. All are also available for custom video requests:
Of course, VeVe and Diablo will be available as well, to be featured with any of these guest ladies.
VeVe has posted a call for custom requests for any of these ladies. VeVe, Aralia, and I (Diablo) are available to pair with any of the guests. Depending on their schedules, some of the gusts can be paired together. But since we're filming with different people at different times, check with us to be sure on that one.
E-mail VeVe directly with requests: veve.wrestler@gmail.com
Whew, such a sweaty time in the big studio today! Aralia, Sweetie, Frankie, competitive wrestling, hot summer day, no air conditioning, no windows = massive sweat effect. And now I'm back at the office again, at the blog, getting ready to put these video matches together.
We had a lovely pair of matches. The ladies got to test themselves against Frankie, and Frankie got to test himself against them.
First we had Aralia (115 lbs) vs Frankie (150 lbs). The competitors were so energetic and scrambly right from the start that they started generating sweatiness very quickly. Scrappy and suspenseful, with both pushing the pace. And Sweetie Dreams got to guest-star as the opening interview hostess.
After a break, we then had Sweetie Dreams (225 lbs) vs Frankie (150 lbs). Sweetie had watched Frankie's match against Aralia, so she has been formulating a game plan for her match. She came out with gun blazing, really bringing it on. When Sweetie first charged him coming out of the gate, it was like Frankie was getting hit by a truck. A truck with bad intentions.
Anyway!
I'm excited to release these matches as soon as I can. But I am contemplating different ways of doing that:
Multi-Match Sets
I initially wanted to collect 3 mixed matches for each lady wrestler and release them as 3-Match sets. For instance: Sweetie vs Frankie, vs Cincinnati, vs Rizzo. Same for Aralia. However, if those other 2 matches don't happen soon, I don't want to have to wait too long.
I considered releasing today's 2 matches as a set, but they were fairly different in tone. But it could be "2-Matches: Frankie's mixed wrestling day in June" .... !
I also kind of want to do both of these sets. (I love making sets).
Maybe I should?! Maybe I should just release today's 2 matches as a set with a note that the matches will also later be released separately in differently themed sets. So, people who want to see both of Frankie's mixed wrestling adventures from today can have a set, if they like.
And people who would rather see a collection of Aralia's mixed matches or Sweetie's mixed matches can wait until the other 2 opponents have been faced for that set to be released.
Of course, they will also be released individually.
Do you have thoughts on sets? On the organizing of sets? I don't want things to be too confusing, and I don't want to spend too much of the release description talking about organizations of sets or upcoming sets. Or is that all right? Ok, I'll curtail this now. Footage is imported, and there're match videos to finalize!
A quick thought that I wanted to elaborate on here, since Twitter is too micro of a blog to discuss such things fully: Competitive Mixed Wrestling to Come... and Spoiler Warnings
But first, an intro:
I've been very excited to see our "newcomer" wrestlers Aralia and Sweetie Dreams progressing nicely in their training. They've been diligent, studious, dedicated. They've been going through the School of Hard Knocks at times and learning some tough lessons that only come from tough experiences. But they're also starting to have things really click, and they are gradually finding their personal styles.
Aralia (5'4" and 115 lbs) and Sweetie (5'8" and 225 lbs)
They've had several official F v F matches. They've won some, lost some. But currently, especially at practices, they are winning more often against opponents of similar skill levels. I've been watching their F v F matches and thinking, hmm, ok, we're going to have to get some mixed competitive matches into the program and see what happens.
Both ladies have suffered mixed wrestling losses months ago, at the hands of years-more experienced male wrestlers. But how about some matches against guys who are more equal to them in experience level? Well, my friends, this is what our new season of competitive mixed wrestling is about to reveal!
Mixed Matches Coming Up
We have several guys in the area who are comparable in experience level to Aralia and Sweetie, and we are excited to match them all together. We've got:
Frankie -- 5'4" and 150 lbs. An impressive muscular physique with explosive power potential, but no formal wrestling training. He's been wrestling with us since 2014, but he's mostly taken on wrestlers who were way above him in experience level. We are all curious to see how he does against the newcomers who've been training up this past year.
Tonight he will face off against Aralia and then Sweetie to kick off the season.
Cincinnati -- 5'8" and 160 lbs. A punk musician and novice wrestler. He started training in submission wrestling about 7 months ago, but had absolutely no prior wrestling experience before that.
He's scrambly and scrappy. He has less experience than either Aralia or Sweetie, but he puts a lot of effort into his wrestling. He'll be facing off against these ladies soon enough.
Rizzo -- 5'6" and 130 lbs. Rizzo's been training in submission wrestling for about a year, but he hasn't been able to practice very frequently. He's light-weight and quick, and he has roughly about the same amount of experience as Aralia and Sweetie, though the ladies have had more actual, formal competitive matches than Rizzo has.
We are very curious to see how the match-ups go with Rizzo. I suspect they could be quite competitive.
And...
Dachi - 5'2" and 120 lbs. Despite being the smallest of the newer guys, I suspect Dachi would be the toughest opponent. Dachi has been training formally in submission wrestling for *about* the same amount of time as Aralia, and they both get a lot of practice sparring at their respective grappling schools.
I think Dachi may be too advanced for Sweetie at current, but I am VERY curious to see Dachi vs Aralia. In fact, I spoke with both of them individually, and they both admitted they think it would be a tough and very competitive match. I haven't seen Dachi wrestle in a while, but I see Aralia frequently. Not sure what Dachi's been working on, but I'm eager to see these two clash on the mats.
So, what is this about Spoiler Warnings?
Yes, that! So, when we release competitive female/female matches, we usually don't reveal the winner, and people usually like that suspense. But with competitive mixed matches, people have mixed feelings. Some people love the suspense, but others really need to know whether it is the woman or the man who comes out as the winner. And I totally understand that.
So, since we have all these mixed competitive matches coming up, and they could go either way, and since some people like that they could go either way while others do not like such surprises, I have decided to do a Hidden Spoiler for competitive mixed matches.
The spoiler will actually not be on the same page as the video release write-up, though. Viewers would need to click a link to view the spoiler. The spoiler will reveal the winner and general tone of the victory, but I will not reveal the exact score (unless people really need that info...?).
Well, anyway, this has gotten too long. I have to go get ready for today's filming. Much unrelated things to film during the day-time. But this evening kicks off the competitive mixed wrestling season for the newcomers. Exciting!
We will be filming with Goddess Anastaxia on Monday, July 3. This post is to kick off Sponsor Pool Idea #1, which is based on an e-mailed-in suggestion. I'm going to give this structure a try. I've consulted with VeVe, and this is my proposal:
Anastaxia and Wrestling Holds
Anastaxia performs specific wrestling holds on a victim, repeatedly or long holds
Examples: headscissors, camel clutch, boston crab, triangle choke, etc
5 minutes for $25 if 4 people go in for this pool
.
Everyone going into the pool must agree on the same hold and same victim. Must also agree on attire and attitude.
Example: If 4 people join together and agree on creating a 5-minute video of Anastaxia performing camel clutches on Aralia, each will contribute $25. All contributions go directly to the wrestlers involved for this idea.
(You can see examples of Anastaxia's previous video work with us here: Anastaxia's page)
If this idea is of interest, please drop us a line ASAP. Both VeVe and I will be monitoring the Sponsor Pool e-mail address, and one of us will get back to you as soon as possible to help coordinate this one.
E-mail: sponsorpool@doommaidens.com
In Subject line, put the following: "Anastaxia Holds Sponsor Pool"
Thanks all! Let us know what you think or if you are interested in this idea.
..................................................................................
Hey folks! This post is a starting point to talk about VeVe's "Sponsor Pool" idea for custom video commissions. I think I will be handling the blogging portion of this endeavor.
If you've yet to see VeVe's Sponsor Pool presentation video, that is here: (and my summary is below)
Here, VeVe proposes an idea to create group-sponsored custom videos. That is to say, if more than one person would be interested in a custom commission idea, these multiple people can come together and split the production cost between them.
To start, VeVe asks that people who are interested e-mail her so that she can begin to get an idea of who and how many people are keen on this.
She would even like to create mini mailing lists for certain genres, such as competitive mixed wrestling, competitive female wrestling, pro-style, bondage wrestling, etc. And when an idea comes up in one of those genres -- or if a new guest wrestler comes to town who can do any of the above --, she will inform the list of it, in case anyone would like to join in a new pool to create a new work.
ok! So, there's a lot of organizing involved here! This is where I come in.
VeVe had thought to use her blog, but since she is often quite busy with e-mail, we have opted to use my blog instead. This, we hope, will be the public posting communication hub.
As ideas and suggestions come in, I will make blog posts for them, so that people can see what's on the table. These listings might also spark people's imaginations and encourage them to submit other suggestions that aren't specifically listed. I may at some point create a page for this on the Doom Maidens website, but, for now, the blog is the sleekest and more easy to update on the fly.
So!
Stay tuned for more to come. I am trying to be concise right now, just to get this post up, but I'll go on more about this later as well.
To submit ideas and suggestions for the Sponsor Pool, you can reach us by e-mail here: sponsorpool@doommaidens.com
Despite all of the fun I've been having this past year with Twitter and the great, fast reactions & discussions that come via tweeting, I am turning my attention back to the ol' blog today. And hopefully in days to come as well. The traditional blog allows for a lot more expanded composition and explanations, and it has more staying power than the fast-moving micro-blog of the Twitter-sphere. However, sadly, it is much more time consuming to compose a blog entry here than it is to tweet on Twitter, and quiet time for composing has been rare. Especially these days... especially this month.
Hello March Madness!
March 2017 is almost over, but it has been a whirlwind for filming. Lots of filming with lots of different wrestlers, both local and visiting. And, in fact, there's even more March filming yet to come. Let's talk about that a bit.
Actually, you know what, I'm looking at the calendar, and there was so much filming this month that I am going to just omit discussing the first 3 weeks of the month, for the sake of brevity. Let's just look at this past week. Whoa.
Those are all of the wrestlers I filmed with this past week! JUST this past week. Not all at the same time, mind you, but over the course of multiple days. Here's what we filmed: Vika -- Sunday, March 19
Vika is a visiting model from Texas who we met last August while at FetCon. There, she got a chance to participate in our 8-Way Bondage Wrestling Free-For-All, as well as several other videos. Now, this month, she came up to NYC while on tour, and she jumped in for more:
1. Pro-Style special: "Taking Out The Trash" Vika gets smashed by VeVe
2. Mistress of the Gym: Vika & VeVe in black leotards & tights, similar to an agent duel.
3. Sensual Catball Fight: Vika & VeVe in low light, bare legs, sensual tone, rolling on bed & floor
4. Bondage Wrestling: Vika vs VeVe (Released!)
5. Super Vika Captured: Superheroine captive bondage scenario
Cat Wily & Sweetie Dreams -- Monday, March 20
1. Competitive bearhug contest with Cat vs Sweetie
Sahrye & Regan -- Wednesday, March 22
Regan is a visiting wrestler from Louisiana, and Sahrye came out to visit us from Long Island. These two ladies filmed together and also, alternatingly, with VeVe:
1. Woman to Woman: Sahrye and VeVe
2. Hair-Pulling Catball Fight with VeVe & Regan in pantyhose
3. Competitive Wrestling: Sahrye vs Regan
4. Bondage Wrestling: VeVe vs Sahrye
5. Showdown: VeVe & Regan. Similar to an agent duel, but without pantyhose.
Megan Jones & Mia Annabella -- Friday, March 24
Megan was on tour with her friend Mia. Mia is a newcomer, and Megan was helping her learn the ropes. Mia spent more time on camera this time around, but Megan also stepped in to smash me a bit.
1. Pantyhose Catball Fight: VeVe and Mia. Classic catball in sheer black nylons
2. Villainess Triumph: Mistress Megan and Diablo. Bondage and wrestling domination
3. Bondage wrestling: VeVe vs Mia
VeVe, Aralia, Hanz, Nikolai -- Saturday, March 25
Rounding out the week with work from local wrestlers. All mixed. Domination & competitive.
1. Stockings domination: VeVe & Nikolai
2. Stockings Strike Again: VeVe, Aralia, Hanz, Nikolai
3. Competitive Mixed Wrestling: Aralia vs Hanz (for Hanz's studio)
4. Competitive Mixed Wrestling: VeVe vs Hanz (for Hanz's studio)
And here we are now on Sunday morning, March 26. Whew! And I emphasize again, that was ONLY this past week. All of these videos have been completed and processed fully, and the special commissions have been delivered. But, as you can see, there are now a lot of new videos!
I'd like to get some pictures up here from these, but I'm woefully short on time now. I have to get to work on some of these new releases. But I should also point out that coming up this week we have....
... a new multi-way female bondage wrestling event as well!
That'll be on Wednesday, and it will feature Sarah Brooke, Constance, Tara Tied, Aralia, Lana, Kaia, VeVe, and who else...?
Ok, well, I better stop now. Just writing about this is making me think of all of the work I'm going to need to do. Well! So, look for updates and pictures on Twitter while I'm buried under all of this doing. Follow us here: http://www.twitter.com/doommaidens
And before I go, I'll share a few candid behind-the-scenes pictures from *some* of these shoots. These are just pictures I happen to have on this laptop. But it's by no means all of the behind-the-scenes pictures that we have from these, though. But all of them have been tweeted on Twitter as we were taking them. Cheers all!
